This Is England

This is the Cricketers in Canterbury. Cricket is a game I've never taken to although I think it stands alone as the only sporting event to have a tea break.

Dude, cricket is definitely one of the best games in the world, and not only do they have tea breaks but sometimes you can go to sleep for several hours and when you wake up you haven't missed anything. And there's usually a phone box outside if you need to go.

Cricket rhymes with picket which looks like those posts that the pitcher aims for. I have no idea why my mind went went there.

I think Sheila's got the ticket, carrying her thread of thought, "picket" rhymes with "wicket", which is what they use in croquette. and that's a pretty good game, just like your sketching!

...oh, another thought, screw tea breaks, if you pitch horseshoes you take plenty of beer breaks.

Great sketch, England is such a beautiful place. Being a baseball nut rather than a cricket fan, I do know the wicket is what the bowler (pitcher)throws to. Hmmm...I like watching 'em smash those sixers. Ryan Howard should play cricket.

My Mother used to have to make the cricket teas when my dad would play. That's a hell of a lot of sandwhiches and cakes. Cricket is the only sport that allows you to wear trousers and the kind of wooley sweater your mum might have knitted for you.
Dominique- I use a ruling pen dipped in ink and a bit of watercolor for these drawings.
