Willie Nelson Demo

So happy to be back in the class room, here is my first demo on the season. Gouache built up in transparent layers, in the final stages I am using thicker opaque gouache, fat over lean goes the saying.

Colour Comp

I always prefer to do a colour sketch before I start a painting, It lets the art director know in advance what to expect from the finished painting, it also helps me figure out the direction so I'm not second guessing myself all the way through.

Tighter Sketch

Here is a tighter version of the first sketch, this was the idea they went with so I needed to make sure I knew what was going on for the final painting, tomorrow I'll post a quick color comp.

Color Sketch

These color sketches really help before starting a final painting. When you consider how many different ways one could take a black and white sketch, it's good to let the art director know what you are thinking.

Sketch 4

Once again, I've dropped the ball on posting, I can say though, that is was the chosen sketch and I'll post a color comp tomorrow, yes tomorrow, you heard me.
