Waiting

This was a very quick sketch done as I, along with my friends Eddy and Jen were waiting for people to show up for a caricature. We were somewhere in Scranton at big sort of "Works Day Out" event, four hours of non stop drawing in the hot sun. Good times.

Thanks Ira, I did this drawing a year ago and rediscovered it as I was going through an old sketchbook, it reminded me of a good day out at just after we had all graduated.

Stephen,

Thanks for the kind words...I've been enjoying your drawings as well, especially the subway sketches.

Best,
Larry

Hi Stephen:

Thanks for commenting on my Photoshop "virtual life drawings." I really enjoy getting comments.

I have a question about your watercolors. How do you get that kind of "beaded up" texture? Do you use a crayon or some type of "resist" on your surface?

Hi Hanna, the resist of which you speak comes one of two ways, firstly the drawings are done in a Moleskine sketchbook whose pages often have a natural resist to ink and watercolor however sometimes, because the paper quality in these sketchbooks can be inconsistent I carry a candle with me and to increase resist I drag it lengthwise across the page. Try it.

I love this drawing-the compostion and the sense of space and scale simply describes the whole environment.

Thanks so much Memi, To think I held off posting it for a year because I wasn't sure about it. Thanks again.
