This was a first. I've been drawing on the subway for 5 years now and usually try to keep a low profile. Last night I was drawing and someone opposite me when Winston approached and asked if I would draw him. Absolutely! I stood up against the door and he sat and posed, it was great, I didn't have to worry that he'd notice me and move or get off at the next stop and look, he's not sleeping.

I must have drawn the back side of a thousand commuters trying not to be noticed. Kudos to Winston for voluntarily posing.
...and nice drawing, as always.
I was really delighted, it made my night. Thanks Larry..... and thanks Winston.
Some day there will be a Steve line, on which artists travel and people board to pose deliberately.
Another brilliant drawing Steve. I sure hope Winston appreciates it.
I should have
Next time you will.
Before I even read your post, I thought WOW! he's looking at us!
Way to go, Steve...
Don't look back- or down-
What a pleasure to have a willing model! Great sketch.
Thanks Memi, always great to hear from you.
Liz, it certainly was a first, maybe I'll get another in the next 5 years.
Your pencil portraits are so beautiful that it's not surprising that you have found someone willing to pose for you!
Thanks Lucia.
Hey Stephen, this is Winston. I like it. It was my pleasure. I will follow your blog from now on. Take care, maybe I will see you on the #2 train again.
Winston.
Fantastic!
I see Winston likes it to - kudos for getting a great likeness.
Wow! I have had that before and it's far more difficult when they allow you to actually sketch them! I kinda freeze and the sketches never come out as I expect.
Good shot!
Winston- great to hear from you and thanks again.
Sue- thanks for stopping by.
Adebanji- there is always a bit of performance anxiety when you have someone posing for you.
