Trading Cards

During 2008 and 2009 I had a lot of fun painting trading cards for Upper Deck. If I'm fortunate I'll get the chance to do it all again. I think I did about 80 such cards. You can learn a great deal about painting during such a project. Trying to do more with less was one of the things I was concentrating on with this series, that and trying to work out color.

Bright can often be the challenge with gouache. Bright was my goal. Thanks dude.

Thanks Steve, I loved this project and hope they decide to do it all again soon.

Upper Deck would be wise to tap more of that! Great solution!

I LIKE.
A detail I like, is the abstract background, which although suggestive of turf on bottom, stands and then fans on top, does not take the focus off the player.

I agree with everyone, but especially Fraser. And Sheila, its Gouache. There Steve, I'm even doing your job for you.

I agree with Sheila, it looks like acrylic or perhaps oil.

I particularly agree with Hans, as it is gouache.

Additionally I agree with Stephen, about many things
-also remember Aunty Pat's Birthday, I have a card in my pocket ready to post.
