Joe's Bar
This place really has some atmosphere as well as a pool table. They serve draft beer on those little steins so you don't get that full pint satisfaction but then again that's just me. Plenty to enjoy in this bar and in the East village, you are but a stones throw from the Sidewalk Cafe(best happy hour) and Vazac's, both of which I have featured in the blog, I could set a a link to take you to those drawings but I can't be bothered. It's nothing personal, I'm just on a deadline.

I admire your commitment to this blog even when you're on deadline. (Nice drawing; I love the pensive look on the guy's face.)
Thanks Jane, I think he was wondering why I was staring at him.
Love the reflection on the bar chairs leading up to "dude". Stephen do you sell prints of your sketches or are you just going to publish them in a book?
Hey Sheila, ultimately these bar drawings are going to be (self)published into a bar guide but I can certainly make prints along the way. The book is going to have 36 New York bars, at least that's the plan. I'm up to 26 at the moment.
Illustrating a bar guide...it's such hard work, and the research must be grueling. Or at least, foaming.
Is it still true that a Lady must only drink her beer in half-pint amounts?
That was always the case when I was growing up in England, I still recall the first time a saw one of mt friends girlfriend drink a pint and thinking it was the greatest thing I'd ever seen. These days it's pints all round although my dad will tend to only order a half pint for a lady. Can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Awesome image. Your work remains as good as any I see on the net.
Ok when me and joe FINALLY get to NYC he will probably want to go to "His" bar so best remember where you found this one :)
Looks pretty cool anyway, not as cool as under the empire state though! :)
The "mood" of this is great.
These all are so inspiring.

I may just have to buy this when it comes out.
Terry, thanks so much for that, I really appreciate your kind words.
Cole, I'll take you to all the bars you want although the drinking age is 21 over here not 12 like it is in Scotland.
Sandy, I hope to get this book out soon and I'll certainly keep you posted, thanks.
I'll be 21 then anyway :P
I can't believe you'll be 21, I'm still only 22.
