I was at FIT yesterday to do a quasi gouache demo in my friend
Melanie's class. Whilst gouache is my medium of choice I've never used it this way before, painting directly on board from a live model. I had a good time in the class with a talented bunch of students and learned a few things which is always good. Thanks
Melanie.

Dude! Always keeps the adrenalin running, and you gotta be happy with that result. I've worked with schools and done demonstrations "live" and its certainly a rush.
Great work! This looks exactly like a model that SVA hires on a regular basis. She's very nice to talk to and her poses always have an natural beauty to them. I don't know her name, but she just worked with my class over several weeks for a large painting.
Good job Steve. Not an easy thing to do with people looking over your shoulder. I won't mention any names, but I've seen superstars freeze up when doing demos. Nicely done.
It was great to have you there, Steve- the students love you!! Thanks, as always, for being so generous!!
Nice work
Thanks for coming; we really appreciated it!
this is a great piece it has such a fresh look to it. I guess getting pushed into the water that way makes wonders for some and you did so well.
Very nice! How long was the sitting?
Hey Steve,
Thanks for stopping by and showing us the gouache demo. Here's the 2 artists that i mentioned.
first one is Craig Mullins. He's mostly a digital painter and is highly influenced By Sargent's work. There's a Misc on his website that contains some documented information on Sargent. HIGHLY recommended to check out.
i don't remember the other person i mentioned at the moment. i'll get back to you on that.
It was really wonderful to watch your techniques! Thanks for coming to the class.
:-)
Hans, it really was a charge, I'm hoping to do it all again.
Raz, I've drawn her before as well, she is real good. How's it going at SVA?
Larry, I want names.
Memi, THANK YOU!
Fraser, Thanks dude.
Linda, thank you for welcoming into your class.
Dominique, the experience has got me thinking.
Jberd, I think it was 3 20 minute sessions.
Yuquan, I'll be checking out Craig Mullins for sure, thanks. Great talking to you.
Caitlyn, the pleasure was all mine.
Hey there, I was one of the students hanging over your shoulder most of the class. It was cool talking to you. You work pretty quick there, I remember how it looked like before the last pose and this is so developed. I'll definitely visit your blog later, keep in touch.
Patt, it was great to meet you and good luck with your studies. I think the movie concept stuff is a great field for you. I'm sure I'll see you around.
