This is the back yard at the Ice House in Redhook, it's a great bar with great bar food. Redhook is one of my favorite drawing venues.

Ikea

Yesterday we had to go back to Ikea for reasons to dull to mention, I bit the bullet and drove there but upon arrival Angie told me that if I wanted to stay outside and draw whilst she went in it was OK with her. Yes folks, I got it that good.

Queen Mary 2

I was on my way home from Fairways yesterday when I noticed this massive ship moored in Red Hook. It was towering over the houses and I had to find a place to sit and sketch it. That's down town Manhattan to the left.

The Mary Whalen

This is the other drawing from Tuesdays session at this grand old tanker. I am planning to go back at some point next week and get some more views if I can square it with Carolina. Getting access to the ship is almost too good to be true.

I had a great opportunity yesterday. I was invited by Carolina Salguero who had come across some of my Red Hook sketches, to draw her ship the MARY WHALEN. The ship is a retired oil tanker docked in the Red Hook container port, north side of pier 9B. I could draw her for months on end and never be done. I certainly mean to go back while the weather hold out. I managed two drawings yesterday so you will see the other tomorrow. Thanks again to Carolina.

Red Hook

This is a building you can see from the Fairways car park. I'm really curious about this place and fortunately for my a guy called Pete who was working in there came out to see what i was doing and offered to give me a tour next time I'm around. Pete was on his way to deliver a pair of wings he had made from balloons to a Victoria's Secret model shoot. Oh yes, I m very curious about this place. You'll have to forgive this nasty ink color, I mixed it myself from red and green, hoping to get brown and instead got something very unpleasant.

School Bus Meeting

Back to Red Hook this morning where I came across this scene. I was told I was trespassing which I kind of knew because I was inside the park against a wall where I thought I would go unnoticed. I managed to finish before I was spotted though. I couldn't resist all that yellow.

Another Warm Day

Yes it is another warm day so off went I to Red Hook again, I was just about to draw the sloop "Clearwater" that was in the background of the Tram drawing but it sailed off. Here instead is a view of some old industrial cargo dock or some such. Red Hook is full of surprises.

Red Hook

This is at the back of Fairways grocery store. I've been going to Red Hook a lot lately because it gives me something to do on alternate side of the street parking days. Turning necessity into virtue, that's what I'm all about these days.

Red Hook

I'm spending quite some time in Red Hook, Brooklyn at the moment, it's a great place to draw. Ti's right on the water and there is a great deal of industrial mayhem to get stuck into. This will be a series(I've said that before) I mean it this time.

Motor

I drew this car yesterday and posted it on Urban Sketchers where the fine folks there were able to tell me it was a Karmen Ghia. I love to draw cars but don't know much about the makes or models but how could I resist this little beauty.

Urban Sketchers

I posted this image yesterday on the Urban Sketchers blogsite. This is a great new site that allows sketchbook enthusiasts from around the world to contribute to one great site. I urge you to check it out, there are multiple postings from around the globe on a daily basis. What I'm enjoying is the chance to see so many different styles of sketching and each time you check somebody has posted something new.

Red Hook

Red Hook is in Brooklyn and is right on the water front. It's a great place to draw, there is a lot of development going on and it's a mixture of past and present. I'll be back when I'm better equipped and have more time.
