South Street Seaport

I've been getting a few of these types of ships in recently. I life on the ocean waves and all that. Mind you, I an only sitting a drawing it's not like I've returned to my old pirating days.

We were at the Frying Pan on the Hudson river, Bri was drawing a group of guys who then noticed what she was up to and brought her sketch, nice. It was a really fun day that started out at the South Street seaport. I'll post another drawing of that day tomorrow.

book Jacket Rough

This was the color comp for the book jacket for which I took the shots I used for the demo. The project was canceled but this was about 7 years ago now. It looks very dated to me.

Here I go again on another gouache demo, This one was finished in four stages so stay tuned good people of the world. This is a reference shot I took some years ago of my friend Michael for a book cover that never quite got going, I'll post the sketch for that at the end of the run.

As seen from the South Street Seaport. I met up with some students on Saturday morning for a drawing session, always a good time. I'm planning to do the same again next Sunday. The Seaport has a great deal to offer, whether you draw or not.

This is the drawing stage of a gouache demo I'm doing in class today. I'll post it again tomorrow and again upon finish. I know I've said that before but this time I mean it.

Dog Walk Against Cancer Day

This is my 3rd year at this event. Joan Chiverton arranges a group of artists from the Society to draw dog portraits to raise money for the event, it's always a good time, trying to draw dogs that have no interest in being drawn. It was a beautiful day and we were in Riverside Side Park overlooking the Hudson River and when all was said and done we strolled down to the boat basin for lunch. Not bad, as Sundays go.

As a jewelery designer, it was pretty thrilling to design this piece and stand by and watch it get made.
