This is Inez, she is a young and talented artist. I'm sure you will be hearing more about her, right now her only problem is sitting still for a portrait.
Where have I heard that before? I've given myself the luxury of time on this one by getting a good start on it. I'll have another go at it on Monday but for now I have to get back to the bar (painting).
Cut to the chase, this is our next home work assignment. I started with a color comp and then put in about three hours last night, In a perfect world I might finish today but then, I ask you, is this a perfect world?
So here is where we're at. I've spent some time trying to pull it all together and make it work, color wise. The area to the left is the warm side and cool to the right. The right side should recede and the left advance with the main character being the large dude in the foreground. So much left to resolve, stay tuned good people of the world, I'm excited about this one.
This is not much of a posting for Valentines day but if you were looking to get more into the spirit you should visit the blog my friend Susie works on by clicking HERE!
I'll be posting this in stages. The interesting thing about this one for me is that I'm going to paint it using only red and green and all that lies between. I think this palette will be perfect for the piece and I will be able to take it into class on Wednesday as an example of a painting done in a complementary color palette. Two birds, one stone.
The assignment is to create a theatrical poster the the Adams Family on Broadway. We had to come up with three concepts, I want to go with the first one when they are all hung for the curtain call. We'll see what develops as we have class again on Tuesday evening. I'll announce the winner on Wednesday.
