This was last night on the way into the city to meet friends. I had an easy time with this one, I must have been in the mood.

Happy Birthday Karen

It's my sisters birthday today and she checks everyday (we'll see). I should have had a more festive drawing but you get what you get. This guy looks like he could use a bit of birthday cake. Have a great day Karen, we'll raise a glass to you tonight.

Today is one of those days when I'm starting to doubt the wisdom of keeping a daily sketch blog, but then wisdom isn't exactly something I'm known for.

It's been a while since I've posted a nude because I haven't been to the Society for almost a year. Thinking about going this Thursday.

One Of Those Days

I'm having one of those Sundays.

Quick Studies

I was hoping to be a part of sketch crawl today but I have a lot of work to catch up with. These were quick studies done in stolen time with a ruling pen. What i like about the ruling pen is that you have to work quick and you get what you get. You don't. of course, always want what you get.

Windows To The Soul

I used to be depressed back when I had plenty to be depressed about and when I was depressed I painted many images that looked like this. Happy Friday.

They all look good to me.

Head Study

This is a sketch for a painting I'm working on at the moment, I'll have more to show and tell about this down the road but for now it's sketch of the day.

Some times you just grab as much as you can, I think Dennis Kozlowski said that.

Three's A Crowd

Although sat at a different table, the guy on the left was with the two on the right. He kept trying to get into the conversation but had no luck. Eventually they all got into a car and drove off, guess who sat in the back. In order of popularity he might have been no3 but I'm sure he felt like no2.

Some times you just have to knock one off, so to speak. Had a crazy day yesterday and this was my one opportunity to draw something. It was a really fun day so this one makes me smile.

Fast Car Saturday

This is an E Type Jag, Clooney says he likes Lamborghini, I'm more of a Linguine guy myself but then what's pasta got to do with it. I'm starting to think he might be stupid or something.

3 Versions of Agnes

Here are 3 versions of a portrait I sent for a magazine commission in England. I send a light , medium and heavy, by the time I have 3 I like I would have done about 7.

This guy has dude written all over him, not literally of course, that would be weird.

Back Alley

I was sat at Franklin Park when I noticed this scene and thought it would make a good drawing. It's a change at least. I felt very relaxed when drawing this and since I enjoyed drawing the scene I like the drawing. In the eye of the beholder, I guess

this fine young gentleman had the decency not to wake up for the entire journey. I have to admire that commitment.

Subway Series

Had quite a bit of time on the subway this week so I was able to get back in the swing of subway drawing, it had been a while so it seemed fresh again.

Fast Car Saturday

I took this for a test drive the other day, unfortunately Mr Clooney said he was to busy and couldn't make it. I don't know what's gotten in to him lately, do you think he's seeing other bloggers?

Outdoor Cafe

Won't be able to do this much longer, not in New York anyway.

Franklin Av

I had breakfast at Bristens again yesterday and drew this street scene, I so nearly didn't bother but then that's not the attitude of a daily sketch blogger is it? The car in the foreground had been involved in some sort of collision hence the denting.

Real Character

This woman made me smile she was a real character and great to draw, when I sat on the subway and she sat opposite me I couldn't believe my good fortune. Too bad she got off at Battery Park.

is one of the great old bars, this one is upstate but the great Babe Ruth used to hop a freight train to this bar to tie one on. Note how the locals were all up at the far end of the bar wondering who the stranger with the pencil case was.

Peking Duck

This was a cover for a now dead comedy magazine called "Jest". I've always liked this image because it screams New York.

Color Sketch

I took this for a test drive with George Clooney, they both handle really well.

On The 5

I was back on the subway this week so I managed to grab this quick drawing, also for those of you in the Brooklyn area it's the last weekend my drawings are up as part of this show. Own an original sketch of the day. Why not? The economy is doing so well.

Fluorescent Justice 2

One of the great things about this project was that I was in the middle of my MA program and able to use my fellow students as models. From left to right here are Robert Scott, Eloise Corr Danch, Nathaniel Gold and Ed Murr. Once again to see what the project was all about, click HERE.

Fluorescent Justice

This was a great project my friend Susie Felber hooked me up with. A writer attended night court sessions and wrote a brief account of one of the more unusual stories and sent it to me. I would then storyboard the story and send it to the animator, Matt. The writer would add a vocal track and the finished results can be seen HERE. I did the top eight stories, they were all fun to do and I wish they would start up again.
