Brooklyn Social

we paid a visit to the Brooklyn Social last night and it was well worth the trip. It's located as 335 Smith Street. It's another New York Classic bar that we will definately return to. It's like stepping back in time, they have beer on tap but the owner Matt makes real mean cocktails.

Farm on Flatbush

That's not a suggestion, it's the name of the place we went last night. Farming on Flatbush in generaly frowned upon these days.

Lady with Coffee

I started this one, then somebody stood in my way and then they got off the train and I started again, hence the ghost image on the left.

Saving Paper

Times are hard and two drawings on one piece of paper should help me ease through this recession.

Out like a Light

That's Monday evening homeward bound, another day another dollar and all that good stuff, I could hardly keep my eyes open to draw.

Last LA Drawing

I was in LA for one and a half days and got almost two weeks of blogging action out of it. Now we might be back to subway drawings or the like, we'll just have to see about that won't we. I've got to get out more, that's for sure.

Santa Monica

This is a drawing from one year ago that I've not blogged before, it fits with the LA theme of course. It was the first real attempt I had of using the ruling pen. It reminds me of how simple things can be.

Clear Blue Skies

It's rainning in New York today so this is but a distant memory of the weather we had in LA. Does it ever rain in LA?

Picnic Tables

drawing people eating is sometimes as good as drawing them sleeping in as far as they stay put for a short while, it's hard to eat corn on the cob whilst on the run.

High Street

It's all about finding a shady spot to draw in.

Somewhere in LA

I have no idea where I was for this one, I was driving Angie and Christophe around on a shopping trip and where ever they wanted to shop, I drew.

Truck

Color is something you almost can't avoid in LA I certainly havent felt the need to add too much color during the winter in NY

Wednesday, March 12, 2008

Abbot and Kinney

I think that's how it was spelt. It's a district in LA that we visited. I sat in the shade of a Mexican diner to do this drawing.

Truck Meet

some times trucks get lonely.

Outdoor Cafe

Proof positive that we are not in New York. I'm stealing WiFi from a coffee shop because I'm coffee'd out and I don't want a muffin. Back to NY tonight then normal service will be resumed. I did some nice drawing today but won't be able to scan them untill tomorrow. And so it goes.

Rose Bowl

So we went to the flea market at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena today and this is my offering from the day. I did plenty of drawing and I'll be doing plenty more. Stay cool my brothers.

2nd Till of the Year

And many more to come. There are two such tills in the Old Town Bar and both are just perfect still life set ups with that low light that you get in there. If I could get a nude lady to stand next to one of these tills in a subway car I'd just about have it all in one. Any offers?

Old Town Bar

I hit the Old Town Bar last night while I was waiting for Angie to get off work, I used the ruling pen because I'm warming up for the trip to L.a at the weekend. I'm really enjoying ink again and I even did another till drawing which I'll lay on you soon. As the weather seems to be getting better, I'll be getting out more and there will be less subway drawings, which will suit me just fine.

Quickie

This was done at Old Town Bar during a drinking session so it's quickie indeed. I must have neglected to screw the top back on the ink bottle properly so the next day I had a major leak in my bag and was once again the human stain, leaving a deep red trail all over Manhattan before I became aware of it. I'm still sporting a stain on my leg.
